What is the most important part of dissertation?
Every single part is important. One of your objectives when producing a dissertation is to ensure the work is fluent and benefits from a logical flow. However, various sections carry different marks. I assume every university would assign different weight to different sections which makes it difficult to provide a generic marking scale. Nonetheless, my experience shows the the following applies in most cases:
- Introduction: 10%
- Literature review: 20%
- Methodology: 15%
- Data analysis: 35%
- Conclusion: 10%
- Referencing, grammar and general flow of the work 10%.
So to answer your question, literature review and data analysis carry the greatest weights.
